- The secondary title of this episode, "Shampoo Planet" is derived from one of Douglas Coupland's novels of the same name. Coupland is believed to be "one of the greatest satirists of consumerism" and commonly deals with themes of "postmodern religion, Web 2.0 technology, human sexuality, and pop culture" in his novels.[1] The episode "Sign of the End (Life After God)" is also named after one of Coupland's novels, specifically the sequel of Shampoo Planet.
